Moreau! (The Students' Cast)

The inception of this play took place three years ago when UK playwright Phil Stewart produced two separate scripts, neither of which met his expectations. Following this, he partnered with fellow playwright H.S. Fernandez to develop a new version of the play.

The storyline is inspired by H.G. Wells' "The Island of Dr. Moreau," presenting a distinctive viewpoint that highlights the theme of social conformity and its effects on individuals deemed different, particularly those classified as "neurodivergent." Sven and Phil began their collaboration in November 2023, culminating in the finalization of the script by August 2024, after which casting and rehearsals commenced. The play premiered at the Drayton Arms Theatre in London, UK, in November of 2024 with two sold-out performances that received standing ovations and a four-star review by North West End UK.

This particular production is staged by participants of Sven's workshops at Esbo Arbis, and it is a slightly modified version from the original. In this version we focused on individual character exploration for the sake of students being able to conduct deeper analyses of individual roles.
